Freddie & Friends Are Here!!

Town Centre

Freddie and his 19 fishy friends will be hiding in shops and businesses around the town from the end of this month - replacing the annual turtle trail which launched three years ago.

And this week, Freddie washed up on the beach with Tilly the tigerfish and Anna the angelfish.

The trail is once again being hosted by Lowestoft Vision, working with Scenic Projects to create and paint the fish.

Each is colourfully designed and has its own unique name.

Freddie is representing Lowestoft and includes images of the town’s lighthouse, Gulliver wind turbine and a trawler boat.

Lowestoft Vision chairman Danny Steel said: “Lowestoft Vision is all about trying to increase footfall in Lowestoft town centre and the trail is great for bringing lots of people into the town, not just from Lowestoft but from other areas too.

The fish theme links in so well with Lowestoft and I’m absolutely delighted with how they all look.”

The trail will take place from Sunday, July 30, through to Sunday, September 3, with the fish being unveiled on the first day of the Lowestoft Festival next Saturday, July 22.

As with previous years there will be maps to follow, with participants encouraged to find each fish and record its name beside the number on the map. Each correctly completed form will go into a draw to win a hamper of goodies. There will also be a weekly competition on Facebook where people will be asked to post a fish selfie on the Discover Lowestoft page and a competition to collect six stamps from businesses supporting the trail.

General manager of Tingdene Lifestyle, official sponsor of the trail, said: “This year’s trail is a fantastic idea; harnessing the local fishing heritage of the town in a vibrant and colourful way. The trail will no doubt capture children’s imaginations, and encourage locals to visit their local town centre and high street.

Lowestoft Vision continue to develop and create new ideas, enhancing the appeal of the town centre. Tingdene Lifestyle are in full support of their continued success.

Melanie Taylor, General Manager of Kerry's Home furnishing said:

Kerry’s are delighted to be involved in this year’s trail and what a wonderful idea it is! Lowestoft Vision is working really hard to make the shopping experience in Lowestoft more enticing and this is another great innovative project that brings both the retail industry and the community together.

Kerry’s are very excited that they have been given their favourite fish to house for the summer holidays, you’ll have to come in and find out which one it is!
