Find out more about the buildings, the shops that were (as well as the shops that now are), famous people who lived in these and the events that have taken place here.

Shopkeepers and residents will put up displays of pictures, photos, artefacts, objects and information to document the nature and type of their premises in the past. Many shops will be open for ordinary business during their normal opening hours and so would welcome visitors (if not too busy with ordinary shoppers); other shops and residential houses ask that you look at the window display only (as social distancing and current restrictions mean that they cannot open to HODs visitors). We are keen to promote our High Street as the mixed retail and residential area that it was in the past, that it is now and that it will be in the future.  Look for the changes that have taken place as well as the things that have remained the same, imagine how the High Street will be in the future….
