Free beach festival First Light offers families a packed programme of entertainment, workshops and sunrise celebrations for all ages.
Families looking for an unforgettable start to summer can head to Lowestoft’s South Beach this June as First Light Festival returns with a packed weekend of free activities, live entertainment and beachside fun.
Taking place across the 20-21 June, the UK’s only free multi-arts beach festival transforms the Suffolk coastline into a giant family playground, with more than 200 performances, workshops and activities spread across 24 stages and festival spaces. From circus skills and dance parties to science discoveries, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Highlights include:
- Entertain the whole family with jaw dropping aerial silks displays and exciting workshops from Monkey Business Circus (All weekend)
- The Moon and Life on Earth – Meet scientists from the Natural History Museum, London, handle real objects from the Museum’s collection and discover amazing ways that the Moon impacts nature. (All weekend)
- Grounded Movement, ring & shout dance party – Grounded Movement, debuted at Sadler’s Wells Breakin’ Convention 2013, and produces work inspired by African derived, social and street dance culture. (20 June 12:00 – 13:20)
- Pocket Rocket with Space East, A fast and fun rocketry workshop for all ages. (20 June 14:30 – 17:30)
- Daniel Hanton performs his traditional Punch and Judy show all over East Anglia. (21 June all day)
- Shed-ache is a seriously silly dance theatre show that transporting people into a world that sits somewhere between reality and make believe. (21 June 11:30 – 12:00 & 13:40 – 14:10)
- Step off the sand and into the rhythm with Vivian Tanaka’s high-energy Afro dance workshop. (21 June 12:05 – 12:50 & 14:15 – 15:00)
