Event Details

Join artists Ed Compson and Arieh Frosh for two connected role playing workshops inspired by the ‘Kittiwake Hotels’ that have recently appeared on the North Sea horizon. Built as nesting sites for kittiwakes affected by offshore construction, these structures prompt a wider question: what would a hotel for all marine life look like?

Across the sessions, you will collectively imagine, design and inhabit a speculative marine hotel through role play and collaborative world-building. You’ll take on the perspective of North Sea entities, from harbour porpoises to cold water coral, to marine researchers, to archaeologists, to Lowestoftians.

Workshop 1 focuses on meeting in character and designing the imagined hotel together in small groups. Workshop 2 is a spoken role-playing game set inside the shared hotel, where you will make decisions, navigate unfolding situations, and explore what happens when these different entities meet!

Who is this for?

Open to anyone (age 14+) with no experience needed.
The sessions involve group discussion and spoken role play, so you should feel comfortable contributing verbally in a group setting.
If you like developing characters, table top role playing games, thinking about North Sea ecology, then please join us!

We highly encourage you to join for both workshops, as the Workshop 1 shapes Workshop 2, though please do still book if you can only attend one.

Free, but booking required. We recommend attending both workshops.

You will need to book each workshop separately.
