Cllr Nasima Begum Re-elected as Mayor of Lowestoft for 2026/2027
Councillor Nasima Begum has been re-elected as the Mayor of Lowestoft Town Council for the Municipal Year 2026/2027, following a vote at the Annual Meeting held last night. Councillor Elise Youngman was also re-appointed to serve as Deputy Mayor.
The Annual General Meeting also saw new chairs appointed to lead the Town Council’s committees for the coming year:
Assets, Inclusion and Development Committee — Cllr Bernie Rappensberger
Climate and Ecological Emergency Committee — Cllr Paul Page
Events and Communications Committee — Cllr Sonia Barker
Finance and Governance Committee — Cllr Neil Coleby
Personnel Committee — Cllr John Murray
Planning Committee — Cllr Jen Jones
The Marina Theatre Project Committee and the Town Hall Project Committee will both continue to be chaired by the Mayor of Lowestoft, Councillor Nasima Begum.
Looking ahead, the Full Council will next meet on Tuesday 26th May at 6:30pm at Hamilton House. Members of the public are warmly welcomed to attend in person, and the meeting will also be live streamed via the Town Council’s YouTube channel for those wishing to follow proceedings from home.
