Experience the Wild After Dark at Africa Alive!

Africa Alive is excited to announce the launch of Zoo Camping Nights on Friday, 20th & Saturday, 21st of September 2024, from 4 pm to 10 am — a unique opportunity for families and wildlife enthusiasts to experience the wonders of the zoo after dark. 

Set up your tent on the main lawn under the stars and enjoy a unique opportunity to observe the nocturnal behaviours of the zoo's African animals, offering a captivating overnight experience at Africa Alive. 

Spend your evening exploring the zoo on a guided torchlight expedition, uncovering the secrets of the animals after dark. Back at the campsite, enjoy a fun-filled night with games, including an animal-themed quiz and bingo. Dive into the world of animal care by crafting enrichment toys and gaining fascinating insights into their daily lives. This adventure promises an action-packed experience that will keep everyone entertained. 

Savour a delicious BBQ dinner before embarking on the evening expedition, and start your morning with a tasty breakfast. Then, enjoy an exclusive daytime zoo tour; all included in your ticket price!

This exclusive family event is open to all adults and children aged 5 – 15. 

Tickets can be purchased online for £80 each and include a BBQ dinner, a breakfast roll and drinks, secure parking overnight, all activities/games, a guided torchlight walking trail around the zoo with one of our keepers, a unique morning tour before the zoo opens and free entry to the zoo on the day of departure. 

Only 40 spots per night are available, so act fast, as spaces are guaranteed to go quickly!

Full Itinerary: 

4:00 PM: Arrival and Check-In – Arrive and park in the coach car park at Africa Alive. Our hosts will greet you and check you in. You’ll then be transported in our Safari truck to the lawn area, where you can set up your tent. 

5:00 PM: Welcome Talk and Activity – Join our hosts for an overview of the evening’s itinerary, health and safety information, and a Q&A session. Engage in an enrichment-making activity or join in on Zoo Bingo. 

6:30 PM: Dinner Break – Enjoy a delicious BBQ meal provided by The Glade. 

7:30 PM: Torchlight Trail – Embark on a guided torchlight trail through the zoo to observe the animals that are still active. 

9:00 PM: Back to Camp – Return to camp to unwind or test your knowledge with an animal-themed quiz. 

10:00 PM: Prepare for Bed – Get ready for a restful night’s sleep. 

10:30 PM: Lights Out – Time for lights out and sleep. 

7:00 AM: Rise and Shine – Wake up to the sounds of the zoo and prepare to pack down your camp. 

8:00 – 8:30 AM: Safari Truck Pickup – The Safari truck will collect your belongings and transport them back to your cars. 

9:00 AM: Breakfast – Enjoy breakfast rolls and drinks served in Parkside, included with your ticket. 

9:30 AM: Morning Tour – Meet one of our keepers and help offer breakfast to some of our animals before the zoo opens to the public. 

10:00 AM: Event Conclusion – You are welcome to stay and explore the zoo for the rest of the day (entry is included in your ticket price).
