Performers with good joints required!
The announcement that Elf The Musical will be the next full scale production to be staged by the award winning performing society, The Lowestoft Players, has been received with great excitement. The show will be performed at the Players Theatre, Lowestoft later this year. Based on the film released in the UK in 2003 and described as a ‘pre-Christmas festive comedy treat for all the family’, the search is on for talented performers to form the cast.
ELF is the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. Unaware that he is actually human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. This modern day Christmas classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner ELF!
Music for the show is a combination of upbeat catchy numbers and beautiful ballads.
Beth Freeman who will be choreographing the production told us “We are looking for 24 talented adults plus one boy with a playing age of 12 years to form the cast. As well as being able to sing and dance performers must have good joints as the first number will be performed on their knees!”
Tap dancing would be an advantage too although not essential as I’m confident that I’ll be able to teach the basics required for this show!”
Nick Garrod, Director for Elf and Chair of the Lowestoft Players added “This is going to be such a fun and heart-warming production as Elves are always happy. We therefore need our cast to be happy too!”
Elf will be performed at the Players Theatre, Lowestoft from Friday 29th to Sunday 1st October and Friday 6th October to Sunday 8th October 2023.
Rehearsals for this festive extravaganza will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from June to September, with some Sunday rehearsals nearer to the show.
