Spooky Saturday wows the crowd in Lowestoft

Lowestoft town centre was transformed on Saturday (29 October), as Spooky Saturday returned to Lowestoft town centre, attracting a large audience throughout the day.

Families of all ages took part in a packed programme of thrilling activities throughout Lowestoft's town centre. Entertainment included appearances from movie stars Groot, Darth Vader and Chewbacca, as a giant velociraptor prowled the streets and dark angels on stilts wowed the crowd.

Families in fancy dress also took part in the annual pumpkin trail, collecting sweets and treats from participating businesses and retailers, as well as visiting the Witches Coven in Dunx Cycles and joining in with competitions and a lucky dip hosted by Fosters solicitors.

The event was provided by Lowestoft Vision, the business improvement district for the town, with support from Magnus PR and Graphitas.

Danny Steel, Chair of Lowestoft Vision said at the event: "It was great to see so many people in town throughout the day, the vast majority of whom were in fancy dress for the pumpkin trail. There was a real buzz in the town, and it was lovely to see so many local businesses and families taking part in one of Lowestoft Vision's biggest events of the year."

Amie Mullen, Lowestoft Vision's BID Manager added: "The event provided lots of fun throughout the town, from a Halloween market hosted by Lowestoft Town Council on the Triangle and wild thrills on the virtual reality ride in the centre of town, right the way down to the Velociraptor on Station Square."

The fiendish fun continued on Sunday evening, as Waterstones bookshop hosted a sold-out scary ghost walk through the town, with all proceeds going to Suffolk Mind.

Amie Mullen added: "I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all the local businesses who took part in the event, as well as to all the visitors who enjoyed the day."
