We’re delighted to share that Suffolk Day is coming to Lowestoft Town Centre! This special event celebrates everything that makes our county so wonderful.
The main event for Suffolk Day this year will be taking place [on London Road North] at 9.30am, Saturday 21st June. Formalities include a proclamation by students of Lowestoft, along with the presentation of five Suffolk Medals. The gathering is a public event, all are welcome; with civic leaders and dignitaries from across the county being invited by the Town Council.
The current Mayor of Lowestoft, Cllr Nasima Begum said, “It is an honour to welcome everyone to Lowestoft to celebrate Suffolk Day this year. Being home to Britain’s most-easterly point, Lowestoft is the perfect place to celebrate this year’s theme of being the ‘Sunrise County’. With its beautiful beaches, rich heritage and mix of historic and modern architecture, the sun shines on Lowestoft first.”
Oliver Paul, from the Suffolk Day steering Committee, said “it’s set to a fine spectacle, showing Lowestoft at its best, heralding all the good things of Suffolk and thanking a few who make it so.” The mayoral gathering will finish in good time before the start of the First Light Festival.
