May 6, 2025

Lowestoft Town Council is proud to announce a spectacular event to commemorate Victory in Europe (VE) Day on Thursday 8th May 2025. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, and the Town Council has planned a day filled with remembrance, celebration, and community spirit.

The main event will start at 3pm in Sparrows Nest Gardens with a variety of stalls, exhibitors and food and drink vendors on offer in the park.  Throughout the event, there will be a series of live performances, including the return on the Suffolk Glenmoriston Pipe Band by popular demand, Loddon Brass Band, Sam and the Swingtones, Choir Rocks, Joyee Dee and more.

The Maritime Museum and RNPS Museum will have extended opening hours on the day whilst the national dish of Fish and Chips will be on offer at Giardinos.

The event will culminate at 9:30pm when the town will pause and join with the nation to light the UK’s most-easterly beacon.

Entry to the event is free.
