Lowestoft Museum

Lowestoft Museum exists to promote the town’s rich heritage and is open every afternoon from Easter to the end of October.

It has something to interest everyone – from the extensive collection of archaeological finds, including the first evidence of human occupation dating back 700 000 years, bronze age, Roman, Anglo Saxon  through to the recent industrial past. There are displays featuring the finds from Bloodmoor Hill, the fishing industry, many other industries associated with the town and famous people who were born or worked here. There is a collection of old toys and models, a cobbler’s shop and of course the superb collection of Lowestoft Porcelain manufactured in the 18th century.

New displays for this season include a display of costumes, old postcards of Lowestoft and more fossils for handling. Family friendly activities include Find the Object, large puzzles to complete, artefacts to handle – we are hoping that the new Family Trail will be up and running.  We hope to see you very soon.
